12:31 pm - .
hello livejournal. it's been a while. i've not been as bad as some people re: updating, but with the exception of my "my ex-girlfriend is a spoiled brat" post (which was quickly sent to privateland, being that i pussied out and felt bad about it), i haven't written anything in about six weeks.  it's not that i haven't had anything to say, or haven't had anything happen, but i guess i just haven't seen the point.  this blogging culture that's developed (or is still developing) is kind of ridiculous, when you think about it - does anyone actually give a shit about what everyone else is doing/has done, enough to skip across the internet to find out?  of course, i have noticed that it's usually the most boring people that post 8000 times a day about stuff.  maybe this is the new way friends will keep up with each other - soon there won't even be a need to summon the energy to write a "how have you been?" e-mail, much less call or write a paper letter, using ink.
but i digress.  and proceed to be a hypocrite.
stuff's pretty much the same here, as far as i'm concerned.  since she won't post about it, brooke quit her job at five loaves, so now she gets 2 whole days off each week, and no longer smells like garlic and sweat when she gets home from work.  it's pretty cool.
we went to southport nc for two days last week, to stay at the house where her parents were vacationing.  i swam in a pool and didn't get sunburnt.  we ate too much at a very mediocre seafood buffet.  i became enamored with a series of instrumental steel drum cds, playing popular favorites by the likes of jimmy buffett and bob marley.
friday was brooke's birthday, but we didn't get back to charleston until after 9:00 at night - we attempted wet willies, but ended up at o'hara and flynn's instead.  but the wine and cheese party on saturday went swimmingly.  good company, good food, good wine.  slack attack got me abbey road on vinyl, which wins him an "awesome" award.  it's a shame the weekend didn't last longer.  sunday was a catch up day, complete with a booting girlfriend.
monday night brooke and i went to taco boy for my birthday eve (so amazing, i want to eat there every day) and then went to play mini-golf at blackbread's cove.  i took my birthday off, and we went to the aquarium and brooke bought me guitar hero, which wins her the award of "best girlfriend ever in the universe" and "biggest glutton for punishment".  i forsee me having "more than a feeling" constantly running through my head for the next...oh, 8 years.
and that brings us to right now.  bored at work.  i am working 4 ten hour days this week, to make up for being off yesterday.  i think i am going to go home tonight, exercise, make dinner, and watch raiders of the lost ark.

10:44 am - also.
i am kind of jealous of all these pictures i'm seeing of people i know stomping around in piles and piles of snow. i don't think it should be cold without white precipitation.

08:22 pm - ok, seriously
what *is* chris martin doing? is he looking for bono, hoping he doesn't get busted?

brooke would like to know why the cameras are focusing so closely on the performers, when so far the sets have been pretty cool. well, at least for madonna/gorillaz.

10:48 am - huh.
so, guess who starts a job at musc on monday.
i'll give you a hint: it's me.
and when i got in the car, 96wave was playing friggin' grant lee buffalo. i mean, a new job (that i can *walk* to) and the soothing sounds of star's hollow's official town troubador, taboot.

09:27 am - finally!
after a couple months of wondering if i would ever see non-jump, little children related bands in charleston, i look at myspace to find that glen phillips is playing the windjammer on march 7!
he's co-headlining with melissa ferrick, though. but still.
and also, it's a tuesday. BUT STILL.
please, friends of mine, come see my favorite singer with me. pretty please?
in other news, remember how we didn't go see bill carson at the american legion hall, because we couldn't figure out where it was and it started at 6:00 on a saturday? well, according to his myspace page, it was "the most inspiring" show he's ever played, and it was just him and cary ann.
and it *was* for a bunch of punk kids.

02:54 am - okay...
almost five years ago, i sent mike lawson an atlantic promo copy of vertigo that i'd gotten from the warner brothers rep that brought promos and whatnot to the borders i worked at. it was right after jump was dropped, and reps were supposed to send all the promos back. she didn't, 'cause she knew i liked them. apparently, both brooke and chris slack first heard the record thanks to me.

as a "thank you", mike sent me a video filled with the busking shows from '98, parts of dock street '99, and other random things.

i didn't know any of the people that are sitting around to me. i definitely did not know the girl that's sitting next to me - the girl that's changed my whole entire life - all because of this silly band...

right now, we're watching this tape (slightly drunk), and having our retarded jump, little children moments.

this will be embarrassing tomorrow...but now...it's perfect.

07:52 pm - it sure does get dark outside early...
so, here's what's gone on so far this week:

- i got my haircut in the girl's bathroom at upper deck. it is awesome.
- i went to see nickel creek. they were awesome.
- i started a temp job. it is "eh".

and that's it! i was supposed to go running tonight after work. i did not do that, because it was almost dark when i got home and it was cold (well, kind of cold - i mean, it finally feels like fall here). i am alone in the house, selling things on ebay and marvelling at the fact that it feels so late when it is only 8:00.

i get to go home for thanksgiving!

09:49 am - grrr!
first, my girlfriend is opiate of the day today! i don't know if i am even allowed to be opiate of the day anymore.

second, where have i been? i don't know! right now, i'm in the coffee shop down the street because my desktop computer has apparently caught some kind of a virus and is being a fucktard. so i'm trying to find some way to get rid of it *without* buying something. i don't want to be one of those snobs, but...macs don't get viruses.

job hunting is frustrating and a pain in my butt, but i'm not going into that.

goodbye! i love you!
